No to Viagra...Yes to Gyro?

Spring is definitely here. Three consecutive days of sunshine, convertible parading downtown, pedestrians in their flip flops and sightings of runners/joggers (which include buffed men without a shirt on! I thought being shirtless in public places is uniquely Pinoy?! =p)

My cough/cold (a.k.a SARS... =p) didn't deter me from going out. Armed with a digicam in one hand and on the other, Ryan, we drove to downtown Kirkland and engaged in tourist-y activities: leisure walk, photo-op, people-watching and dined at a Greek resto.

620VNO

620VNO - this is the plate number of a Honda compact car that belongs to a curly, brunette guy who doesn't know how to drive. I repeat, DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO EFFIN' DRIVE! Pinoy kaya ito? Honda kasi ang tsikot eh! Hahaha. Joke!

See co-bloggers, I was following his not-even-a-sports car in a one-lane busy street in Totem Lake - Kirkland. Mr. Curly driver must have been in a hurry that he cut infront of all cars that are making a Right turn. He keeps on glancing on his side mirror so being a sheepish jerk that I am, I shook my head in disagreement, smirked/laughed at him until it's my turn to make a Right turn. Pero makapal talaga ang mukha. Mukha naman p*bic hair. Hehehe. Dapat kasi naging flasher ako para agaw atensyon. Hahaha.

I have a brilliant idea - I should start taking photos of the license plate belonging to these "scums of the road". Will I get in trouble for doing that? What do you think? Hehehe.

The Barking Frog

We made it to The Barking Frog last Thursday! Wuhooo! Thanks to the Northwest's Annual 25 for $25 promotion, Ryan and I were able to set our foot on one of the pricey, fine dining restaurants in the Eastside.
From Ryan's place in Kirkland, it only took us 5 minutes (by car) to get there. It's strategically located to the right of Columbia Winery and to the left of Willows Lodge / Herb Farm.

Call me silly but as soon as I stepped out of the car, I heard the croaking of frogs. Could it be a mere sound effects or that the green, slimy creatures are really out there, beckoning us to their resto!? Hmmmm... creepy.

Let's move forward..shall we?

Ryan had Dungeness Crab Beignet, Crispy Trout and Chocolate Terrine
while I opted for Crispy Sweetbreads, Confit Rabbit Leg, Toffee Date Torte

Food Description here
VemSan recommends: Crispy Sweetbreads and the Chocolate Terrine (this reminds me of Toblerone)

Ooohhhhh the sweetbreads. Don't be deceived by its croutons-like looks. We ate it with gusto only to find out the following day that it's actually a thymus gland. Hahahaha. In fairness, it's very appetizing.

I caught the shy bug that night so photos of our food and the inside of the resto were not taken.

Green Day

Pre-St. Patrick's Day celebration was spent with Ryan and our former co-workers at Celtic Bayou (Irish/Creole Resto) in Redmond. I had Corned Beef & Cabbage as well as Irish Soda Bread a few days ago at work so, I ordered Cajun food instead - Jambalaya with corn muffin and corn/black bean salad. Oi VemSan what's the point of going to an Irish place if you're going to settle for Cajun food? =p

Picky eater. That's Me. Ryan can attest to it. Let me see..uhmmm:

1. I dislike onion BUT I love onion rings
2. I dislike apples BUT I love cider and apple pie
3. I dislike peppers (jalapeno, red, green) BUT I love jalapeno poppers

I started eating broccoli just now. Way to go VemSan!

Ryan thinks it's ironic that I came from a developing country yet I'm a picky eater. Not really. You see, I eat livers, gizzards, chicken feet, pig's blood, cow's tongue and dog (Yes, I've eaten one when I was 6 or 7 years old). O ha?!! But pleaseeee, no balut for me! Mwahahahaha

Is Ja-Fake?

In my search for St. Patrick's Celebration in Metro Seattle, I chanced upon this flag:

'Lo and behold the Acadian flag

Strikingly resembles those of our very own Philippines' flag.....

O di ga?! Galing no?

$25 deal!

Food...food food.. who can't resist it? Not I, says Ryan. Not I, says me.

If you're a foodie and happens to be in Evergreen state then you'll be glad to know that the annual $25 for 25 is back (details)! That means 25 participating restaurants will be serving a three or even four course meal for a mere price of US$25.00 (Drinks and the mandatory tips are not included). What a great deal for food connoisseurs (sa Tagalog, "masiba") on a budget! Tara na! Let's Go!
